Versado Old Vines Malbec 2017

Luján de Cuyo, Northern Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaThe Versado vineyard, certified organic, lies between the famed Cobos Road and the Andes, not far from Chacras de Coria, an old town south of Mendoza City. 2017 opens with fresh cut cedar, leather, and brambleberry scents. Like the regular malbec, the style is on the drier side, mixing dark berries with licorice and dried herbs, and just a hint of spice. There is more intensity here and a longer, more persistent finish featuring pure black raspberry and black cherry that finishes with a twist of smoke and leather. Drink or hold it can go either way. An elegant style of malbec seldom seen on wine shop shelves.Tasted: 04 March 2021Tasted by: Prices:
