Santa Carolina Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva de Familia 2018
Valle del Maipo, Region del Valle Central, ChileAlways solid, you would expect the Reserva de Familiato to rise to the top in 2018, and it does. Fragrant minty, red fruit and spice tones jump from the glass. The attack is rich with cabernet structure and dense sweet tannins that push through the finish. Red currants and plums dusted in cedar and eucalyptus carry through the wine. The fruit is all Maipo Valley (Mariscal) grown over deep, sandy alluvial soils. The macerations are long and can go up to 40 days before it spends 14-15 months French oak. Stylish, to say the least, and excellent value. I would hold this through 2023 and then begin drinking. Impressive for the price.Tasted: 26 March 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $31.33 | 750ml | select private retailers |
