Pentâge Winery Hiatus 2014

Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIf you think Okanagan reds are released too young, here's a 2014 for you (and, yes, it's available on Pentage's website). This is an unconventional blend of nine (!) grape varieties: merlot, cabernet sauvignon, malbec, cabernet franc, petite sirah, mourvedre, tempranillo, petit verdot, and grenache. And all from the Skaha Bench. The result is a nicely aged red that already shows tertiary notes of cedar and tobacco, backed by savoury herbs and black fruits that still retain their freshness. But that's not to say this is at its peak, yet. The tannins aren't yet resolved, and this has the depth of fruit to continue to mature gracefully over at least the next 3-4 years. It's a fun discovery, especially at this price. Recommended.Tasted: 04 March 2021Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:
