Otronia 45° Rugientes Cortes de Blancas 2018
Patagonia, ArgentinaThis organic mix of gewürztraminer (42%), chardonnay (32%), and pinot gris (26%) comes from the region of Sarmiento, Chubut in southern Argentina. The harvest is all done manually, and after a static settling, each variety is fermented separately in concrete eggs. Once the final blend is ascertained, all the wine is aged in French oak foudres and concrete for 18-20 months. Wow, is my take on this delicious, cool wine that opens with exotic, flowery jasmine, some mid-weight chardonnay honey tones, and a whack of fresh lime and bitter citrus peel. Complex, mineral, and refreshing, it is a lovely introduction to cool-climate extreme Patagonia. Coming soon, hopefully to BC, stay tuned.Tasted: 09 March 2021Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:CDN | $35.00 | 750ml | $35-$45 estimated retail |
