The merlot is sourced from holdings in the Oak Knoll district of Napa Valley that have been in the family for generations. San Pablo Bay's proximity keeps the region a little cooler than the vineyards up valley, making it a happy place for merlot, and giving the grape maximum hang time. The style is plush, with minty aromatic notes laced with black cherries, dark plums, black currant, and dark chocolate. Hedonistic as is the Wagner custom.
