Mendoza, ArgentinaFrom estate vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley, this big, savoury, mineral malbec is sourced from vines 20-90 years growing at 1070 to 1200m. The attack is less sweet than most entry level malbecs with toasted oak and spice throughout dense, savoury, dry black fruit. There is a coolness and a freshness that comes with a cooler vintage that makes it finish drier than most, with a twist of bitter dark chocolate, but I like its sophisticated cool demeanour. Think steak here grilled medium-rare, and root vegetables.Tasted: 26 February 2021Tasted by: Prices:

Mendoza, ArgentinaFrom estate vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and Uco Valley, this big, savoury malbec is sourced from vines 20-90 years, and 1100-1200m. This was fermented and macerated for 3 weeks before aging for 1 year (40% in older wood). The wood plays a role here, with a sweet charred spice note that houses the dense, savoury black fruit. Notes of charcoal, roasted espresso, and violets dart in and out, with an element of freshness afforded by the altitude and dominance of stainless. Drinking well now, with grilled meats and root veg, as intended.Tasted: 26 February 2021Tasted by: Prices:
