Marcel Cabelier Côtes du Jura Chardonnay Vieilles Vignes 2015
Côtes du Jura, Jura, FranceThis old vine chardonnay (25 years) is made in the famed region of Côtes du Jura, and it opens with a touch of oxidation given its six years in the bottle. After that, its saline hazelnut aromas and flavours draw you toward the glass and bring on thoughts of grilled fish and mushroom risottos. It is a chardonnay for the enthusiast and the dinner table. It is nice to see it in just under 30 BCLS stores at a very competitive price.Tasted: 29 April 2021Tasted by: Prices:
Marcel Cabelier Côtes du Jura Chardonnay Vieilles Vignes 2015
Côtes du Jura, Jura, FranceMarcel Cabelier is part of Maison du Vigneron, the leading negoc concept of Jura. While the winery has no vineyards of its own, they hand select the farmers from the 100+ in the collection that they want to work with, and support their viticulture efforts. From 25 year old grapes, this chardy has a subtle swing of oxidation, but not from any Jura flor veils. This is showing its age, now 6 years along. Salted almonds, hazelnuts, warm meringue, lead ripe yellow apples, lemon curd to a humming, salted, and flint struck finish. This wine really benefits from time in the glass to stretch its legs. A lovely opportunity to see Jura chardonnay with some time in bottle.Tasted: 21 February 2021Tasted by: Prices:
