Mendoza, ArgentinaAlamos opens with sweet floral tones and a savoury dried black fruit aroma. The attack is broad and juicy with tasty blackberry jam, black pepper, and toasted oak filling in the finish. The tannins are moderate, more structural than textural, and the acid is medium fresh, making it eminently sippable now. The fruit comes off higher altitude La Consulta sites in the Uco Valley. Value and quality are nice monikers to attach to this easy sipping red.Tasted: 27 February 2021Tasted by: Prices:

Mendoza, ArgentinaA vibrant fuschia colour, this opens with a sweet smelling malbec nose brimming with candied violets, dried blueberries, and chai latte. Compact and complete with tasty berry compote, a grinding of black pepper, and creamy oak balanced by botanical freshness and brisk acidity. Tannins are medium firm, but very ripe and sweet, and the respectible finish gets nice and dusty. High sites in the La Consulta sector of the Uco Valley account for the expressive, streamlined fruit in Alamos' Seleccion. It's a lot of wine for the price and pairing possibilities include roast chicken, lamb shoulder, or pastitsio.Tasted: 27 February 2021Tasted by: Prices:

Mendoza, ArgentinaRich and dense and smoky from the start, this full-bodied red grows in high altitude vineyards, is macerated for approximately one month, and spends 16-18 months in a mix of stainless, American, and French oak. A whack of sweet, ripe, potent black wood greets, imbued by sweet smoke, candied black liquorice, and cracked black peppercorn and cinnamon spicing. Tannins are ample, plush, and enveloping, cradling this to a warming finish. Quite a massive wine, and one that necessitates equally powerful food to meet.Tasted: 27 February 2021Tasted by: Prices:
