Champagne Rémi Leroy Rosé NV

Côte des Bar, Champagne, FranceBased in the Aube, which shares the same Portlandian and Kimmeridgian limestone soils as Chablis just further south, young Remi farms 3 of his family's organic 9ha under this label; the rest of the grapes are sold to large champagne houses. This deeper peach hued rosé is an 85/15 pinot noir / chardonnay split, based on the 2017 vintage. The 20% red wine in the mix is reflected in the deeper hue. Vinified in 75% stainless, with the remainder in older oak barrels, this has 15% reserve wines, and spent 3 years on lees before a dosage of 2 g/L. Perfumed wild raspberry, wild strawberry, redcurrant, lemon, stony spice rules a tight, zippy, humming, limestone base. There's lovely density of red fruits that counters the brisk acidity, making this a natural for a wide variety of pairings, or enjoying solo. Incredible value.Tasted: 24 January 2021Tasted by: Prices:
