Van Westen Vineyards Vulture 2017
Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA good follow up to the outstanding 2016 but not quite in the same class. There are plenty of savoury notes in this fully ripe franc, offering sweet blueberry aroma and a fair amount of oak. The palate is a mix of smoky black fruits with a peppery and savoury undercurrent and just a hint of acidity. Longer and softer than 2016, not quite as chiselled, this will be ready to drink in the near term (three to five years).
