Taboadella 1255 Villae Red 2018
Dão, Northern Portugal, PortugalTaboadella is an exciting new Dão project from the Amorim family (of cork domination). The family is no stranger to winemaking, however, owing Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo in the Douro, as well as the large Aldea de Cima estate in the Alentejo, where they have been planting vines over the past few years. From Dão's granitic soils, and 550m elevation, this blends tinta roriz (Aragonês / Tempranillo), jaen (mencia), alfrochiero, and tinta pinheira (rufete), all separately fermented and aged in stainless. Crunchy and fresh with wild herbs, lilac, lillies, blue fruit, wild plum on a bright palate. Tannins are firm and fine, and this finishes with a lingering pepperiness. Super charming, drinking well now and for the future.Tasted: 16 December 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:Portugal | $9.90 | 750ml | Portugal - Euros |
