Taboadella 1255 Touriga Nacional Reserva 2018
Dão, Northern Portugal, PortugalTaboadella is an exciting new Dão project from the Amorim family (of cork domination). The family is no stranger to winemaking, however, owing Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo in the Douro, as well as the large Aldea de Cima estate in the Alentejo, where they have been planting vines over the past few years. From Dão's granitic soils and 520m elevation, these 50-year-old vines were destemmed and aged for 7 months in new French oak and stainless. Wild violets, wild blackberry, cassis, and fine peppery spices flood this fuller red. Tannins are firm, structuring this medium+ bodied red through the spiced finish. However, the altitude and brisk granitic-fed acidity keep this bright in the mouth. Drinking well now and will continue to hold for the next 5+ years easy.Tasted: 16 December 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:Portugal | $15.90 | 750ml | Portugal - Euros |
