Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalThere is no more storied Portuguese family than the Guedes, who have continuously owned Quinta da Aveleda since the 15th Century. The family is five generations deep into viticulture, dating back to the 1870s. The 150-hectare estate is home to various gardens and granitic sand vineyards planted to loureiro and albariño. After a cool fermentation, the wine goes through ageing in stainless steel tanks on fine lees. The result is bright and fresh, with citrus, apple highlights, ripe melon, and a clean tight mineral finish. A terrific value seafood wine I enjoyed with a prawn salad. Stupid value in Ontario.Tasted: 14 June 2021Tasted by: Prices:

Vinho Verde, Northern Portugal, PortugalThe Guedes family has owned Quinta da Aveleda since the 15th C, and the family has practiced viticulture for 5 generations, dating back to the 1870s. Their 150HA estate includes 7HA of lush gardens, where majestic roaming peacocks strut their stuff. This is a blend of loureiro and albariño, in the granitic sands of the estate. With freshness as aim, this was fermented and rested briefly in stainless. The result is a bright, crisp, and fresh VV, with tight lemon, green apple, subtle melon on a light, snappy palate to a sour finish. Easy and bright and clean, enjoy this with salads and shellfish.Tasted: 06 December 2020Tasted by: Prices:
