Lightning Rock Pét Nat 2020
Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIs this your first BC wine from the 2020 vintage? Me too. From their Summerhill estate and Elysia and Canyonview vineyards, this was whole-cluster and double pressed, with a night on skins to suck up more texture and aromatics before heading to concrete tank for a native ferment. This headed to bottle and crown cap during fermentation, leaving it with the desired amount of pressure and sweetness. This potent little fizz presents quite dry and highly acidic, green apple, green melon, underripe pear skin on a racy, and a slight (10.5%) palate. There is zero viognier characteristic here that I can access, indicating the grapes were very early picked. Pour this if you're in the mood for a wickedly zippy, lighter fizz.Tasted: 19 December 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $29.00 | 750ml | winery direct |
