Château Pesquié Edition 1912m 2019

Ventoux, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceÉdition 1912m honours Mont Ventoux, standing 1912 meters above the sea and said to be the last real mountain of the Alpes chain, commonly referred to as the Giant of Provence. We first saw this wine in 2018 and loved it, but 2019 might be even better. The nose is inviting, and the rich pepper and red fruit are doused with a savoury garrigue note. On the palate, violets and wild herbs lift more supple red/black fruit. Ventoux is one of the coldest, windiest areas of the southern Rhone, and the freshness it crafts is reflected in this wine. The blend is close to 70/30 grenache /syrah, with cinsault and carignan traces. The vinification is in stainless and concrete tanks for fifteen days, and none of the wine sees oak. It's outstanding value, and it's hard to believe it's not listed everywhere. It is perfect for pizza and performs well with charcuterie, meat pies, empanadas, and chicken salads. There is fair value here.Tasted: 30 November 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
