Le Colombier Vacqueyras Cuvee G 2017
Vacqueyras, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceIt’s Vacqueyras in structure, with plenty of dense tannins to carry it through the next decade, but it has a softer side that makes it amazingly attractive to those who would decant and serve it now with lamb or beef. The blend is 50/50 grenache/syrah, and the style is surprisingly Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Concentrated savoury black fruits with a twist of cola, and smoky, meaty notes carry the back end before melting into a long, persistent, warm finish flecked with mint.
