Jean-Paul Brun Terres Dorées Beaujolais Blanc Vinification Bourguignonne 2018
Beaujolais, Burgundy, FranceTerres Dorées is land of the golden (clay-limestone) slopes, and where leading Beaujolais non-interventionist elder statesman, Jean-Paul Brun, owns 39ha. He makes two Bojo Blancs: this wood-rested one, and another completely inox wine. From 30-40 year old vines, this was long and slowly barrel and foudre fermented, with 5% new wood, and with full MLF. Fortunately the soils here keep this wine bright and shining, bed by a finely creamy, leesy mid, laced with fine lemon pith and peel. This lingers with a saline rinse. Earlier this year Brun told me he's seeing a big rise in Beaujolais Blanc because people are planting chardonnay for crémant. Drinking beautifully now, and with short term cellaring.Tasted: 18 October 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $31.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
