Elephant Island Blanc de Blancs 2015
Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThough better known for their fruit wines, this orchard-based winery also makes a few wines from grapes, including this 2015 Blanc de Blancs from Sideshow Hill Vineyard, in Naramata. These estate chardonnay grapes were from 16 year old own-rooted vines, and spent 5 years on lees after secondary ferment, in bottle. This is a lovely, complete, and evolved bottle of fizz, with well integrated toast, brioche amidst fresh apples, lemon pith, and a refreshing salinity that cleanses the lengthy finish.
