Poggio Al Sole Casasilia Gran Selezione 2015

Tuscany, ItalyPoggio al Sole is owned by the Davaz family, experienced in winemaking in Switzerland since 1972. This project of theirs comes from Chianti Classico's far west, and the commune of Barberino Tavarnelle. This is one of the relatively new premium tier of Chianti Classico - the Gran Selezione. From estate sangiovese grown on clay, tuff, and gravels at 300, this spent 30+ months aging in cask. Powerful and structural, aided by the generous 2015 vintage, this rich, smoothed red is very elegant and mineral woven with layers of worked leather, flake salts, dried florals in between dried cherry, ripe black raspberry, wild blackberry and ample baking spices. Tannins are long and fine, slightly grippy, guiding this to the lengthy finish. Drinking beautifully now, and with much time ahead.Tasted: 11 September 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices: ON 59.00 LCBO BC 63.00 private wine shops Producer: Poggio Al SoleDistributors: Heritage Cellars
