Pax Mission 2019

Lodi, Central Valley, California, United StatesThis 100+ year old mission (aka pais) was planted on an old, dried riverbed in the early 1900s. The deep, sandy loam soils have been good to these dry farmed, organic old vines: they have super large trunks, and many are over 6 feet tall. After a whole cluster ferment, this spent 4 months in neutral French oak and one month in concrete prior to bottle. This light red looks more like a fuller rosé. Wild raspberry, cherry, fragrant wildflowers flow through this slight wine, with a sapid scrubby herbaceousness, and stubby, sticky tannins. Light and lively in hue and body, this welcomes a chill and would be a beaut to partner with ahi sashimi or banh mi.Tasted: 19 September 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
