Mission Hill Terroir Collection Naramata Ranch Chardonnay 2019

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTwo of the most improved varieties coming out of Mission Hill are sauvignon blanc and chardonnay. It is the first release of Naramata Chardonnay to join the Terroir Series, and it is impressive. The Naramata Ranch is a geologically diverse site. The wine is a mix of clones 548 (11 year old vines) and 95 (30+ year old vines). I remember when the vines first went in and the ensuing struggles to get them growing. Let's just say it's been worth the wait. A warm spring and summer followed by a cool fall is the perfect recipe for chardonnay. It was fermented and aged in barriques, puncheons, and concrete eggs. Look for an enticing nose of citrus and creamy lees. The texture is perfect, playing off the leaner clone 95 juice with the richer 548 textures. Fresh, young, and ageable, this is a winner and great for food.Tasted: 19 September 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
