Matchbook Red Gravel Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Dunnigan Hills, Yolo County, California, United StatesSometimes you can judge a book by its cover - or a matchbook, in this case. It pours a deep purple colour with plump, ripe black fruits and smoky, dusty oak. Medium-full bodied, there’s a smooth, viscous quality to the palate thanks to some residual sugar (5 g/L), but not enough to entirely mask the grainy tannins. It’s a big, bold red that delivers on its promise at a reasonable price. From Central Valley's Dunnigan Hills AVA, this is a 75/23/2 blend of cabernet sauvignon, petit verdot, and malbec that's been aged in a combination of French, Hungarian and American oak for 12 months.Tasted: 25 September 2020Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:BC | $19.99 | 750ml | BCLS, select private retailers |
