Hillside Heritage Series Viognier 2019

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaConsistency is the hallmark of fine wine and even finer winemaking. Winemaker Kathy Malone has brought her considerable talents to Hillside and improves the wines bit by bit every year. Naramata grown and raised, this viognier jumps the fence, leaving the heavy, cloying style for a brighter, fresher interpretation. It's aromatic, and there are the honeysuckle notes you expect, but the palate is leaner and spicier, leaving you wanting another sip. Just 40 percent is barrel fermented in 1st (12% new), 2nd, and 3rd fill French oak barrels, while the balance fermented long and slow in stainless steel. After six months in oak with frequent stirring of the lees, the parts were blended. It's a knockout at 12 percent alcohol, and it is finished dry.Tasted: 30 September 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
