Domaine de Bellene Bourgogne Maison Dieu Vielles Vignes 2017
Burgundy, FranceWhile overseeing the eponymous Maison Nicolas Potel, Nicolas began a negoc company, which he later sold. However, he fell in love with and held onto a few select vineyards, which he added to over time. Today, his vineyards are situated in Santenay, Saint Romain, Volnay, Beaune, Nuits Saint Georges and Vosne Romanée, and from vines from 50 to 110 years old and grown biodynamically and naturally. This regional Bourgogne is sourced from older vines in the Maison Dieu vineyard, just east of Pommard. Primed for drinking now (with a decant or time in glass, mind), this hums with minerality, bedding bright plum, cherry, wild raspberry, fragrant forest, with a hint of cinnamon bark and salts on the tighter finish. Tannins are silky and inviting, with a slight tug to support. Crack now, decant, and enjoy liberally with roast chicken and/or wild mushroom risotto.Tasted: 04 September 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $45.00 | 750ml | private wine stores |
