Culmina Family Estate N˚ 010 Margaret's Bench Chardonnay 2018

Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCulmina released two single bench chardonnays from 2018 for chardonnay geeks. Both are from its elevated Golden Mile Bench estate. The slightly higher and cooler Margaret's Bench features clones 76 and 101-14, yielding a full and creamy style. This was basket pressed into older wood for a native ferment and MLF where it remained for 8 months. The barrels are said to be neutral, but the wood seems super present, with ample clove, toast and baking spice. Lemon curd, red apple, ripe peaches and thick cream fill the generous palate, girdled with a firm coil of lemon peel. The full-bodied wine trails off with gentle vanilla and fine spices. A lot of a lot, and a bit much for now. Give this a year or two to gather itself in bottle.Tasted: 07 September 2020Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:
