Familia Estrada Palacio Vispius 2019
Somontano, Aragon, SpainThree siblings oversee this winery since 2006, originally begun by their grandfather Martin Palacio more than 100 years ago, and passed down from their father Francisco Estrada. Located in northeastern Spain, this blends equal parts tempranillo and garnacha, in what was intended to be their 'international style' red. I wish they hadn't, because this ripe, sweet, simple styled red detracts from their estate vineyards' sandy soils at 450m. Candied raspberry, cherry jam, sugared plum slides along a silken palate, with no tannins, and a snappy short brown sugared finish. Please, stop trying to be what you think the market wants, and be what you are. At this point, this promising wine is disappointing, and could be from anywhere.Tasted: 20 August 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $19.99 | 750ml | select private retailers |
