Calchaqui Valley, Salta, North, ArgentinaThe label pays homage to the winery’s founder, Don David Michel, and the DD malbec is harvested from vines that are closing in on 25 years of age. The fruit is all estate-owned in the Cafayate Valley, from vineyards well above 900 metres. The wine is awash in rich black plum with a whiff of dried tomato with the freshness and the minerality of Salta. Ready to drink, but this will hold for three years or more in the bottle. Best with the classic grilled meats.Tasted: 19 June 2020Tasted by: Prices:

Calchaqui Valley, Salta, North, ArgentinaFrom Calchaquí Valley, and 1800m altitude, this malbec was partially native fermented in stainless before moving into a mix of French and American oak (70%) and stainless for a year of rest. Plush and sweetly ripe blueberries, juicy dark plums, wild blackberries ride a juicy swell, buoyed by soft tannins and seasoned with pipe tobacco. The finish is plush and pleasurable, inviting another glass. An excellent value malbec, not dumbed down, that is ready for drinking now, especially with lamb or hearty root veg pies.Tasted: 04 August 2020Tasted by: Prices:
