Citation Pinot Noir 2005
Oregon, United StatesCitation Pinot Noir is a blend of top-rated pinot noir blocks picked across the state of Oregon. It’s a combination of owned and purchased fruit fermented in small vessels. It was punched-down twice a day by hand and eventually pressed off in French barriques and aged for 18 months. At this point, the very best barrels were bottled and then bottled aged for nine years. Over that period, the wine has stood the test of time, and frankly, at fifteen years old, it remains relevant and delicious drinking. The colour is medium-dark, with prominent raspberry black cherry fruit, earthy mushroom mid-palate flavours followed by a classic sour cherry finish. The tannins are mostly soft with only a small amount of dryness snow creeping into the backend — that you could say could be expected at 15 years. Impressive and a testament to selection and fine winemaking. Serve with a mushroom stuffed, oven-roasted chicken.Tasted: 21 August 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $99.99 | 750ml | estimated retail in select private wine shops |
