Upper Bench Altitude Limited Release 2016
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAltitude is the newish label at Upper Bench, and likely their best. The blend is 70% merlot and 30% cabernet sauvignon aged 20 months in 30 percent new French oak. While it is not as husky as 2015, it has more red fruit and terroir in the nose and on the palate. Tart red plums and red cherries dominate with spice and dry tannins edging into the finish. It needs some bottle ageing to settle into itself.
