Rocky Creek Pinot De-Gris 2019
Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaThere are two pinot gris labels in play at Rocky Creek in 2019. One was made by the recently graduated winemaker and daughter Robin Holford, the other by her father Mark Holdford, chief winemaker and co-owner. The daughter’s version, labelled Pinot De-Gris, is made with the same grapes but in a different (no skin contact) winemaking style. The nose is appealing with tropical fruit aromas that spill across the palate. A fun sipping style with enough ripe melon fruit and a hint of minerality to take on lightly spiced dishes. The winery suggests truffle fries would be a good match.Tasted: 12 July 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $22.00 | 750ml | winery online/direct |
