Pasqua Mai Dire Mai Valpolicella Superiore 2013
Veneto, ItalyIn 2013, the grapes were harvested under ideal conditions and came to the winery with intense flavours. Mai Dire Mai, or “never say never,” is a project involving the winemaking Pasqua family and the Dal Colle family owners of Monte Vegro vineyard, a 23-hectare basalt and limestone vineyard set 350 metres above sea level. The second version of this label is another shot at elevating the Valpolicella story. From wild berry aromas to mineral, spicy, figgy after tones, there is a sense of complexity, but at this point, it is hard to get by the toasty oak notes emanating from spending 18 months in French oak 500-litre casks and 225-litre barrels (mainly new or second-use). Give this at least another two years to shed some oak and be more Valpolicella than barrel.Tasted: 23 July 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:ON | $63.15 | 750ml | LCBO |
