Nk'Mip Cellars Mer'r'iym Red Meritage 2017

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMer’r’iym (pronounced mur’-eem’) means marriage, and in this case, the perfect union of varieties. In 2017 the mix is 45% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cab Franc and 10% Malbec, all aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Mer’r’iym is always fairly heady stuff thanks to its warm south Okanagan. Still, over the years, winemaker Randy Picton has continued to refine this red, adding much-needed elegance despite its rich alcohol and weighty nature. The tannins are entirely managed in 2017, almost silky, and they help to let this wine sing the entire length of its palate. Impressive youthful, and is likely to have a long life in the bottle.Tasted: 24 July 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
