Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Laughing Stock Pinot Gris is the style we like to rail against. Not that it won’t be popular with a large segment of the public, but the trifecta of residual sugar, alcohol, and lowish acidity makes it just a bit too simple to applaud. The fruit comes out of Okanagan Falls, and it is fermented in neutral French oak, stainless steel, and concrete eggs before ageing six months with weekly bâtonnage. Okay, but not great.Tasted: 24 July 2020Tasted by: Prices:

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThough Laughing Stock hit it rich, so to speak, with new international Arterra ownership, the rich, luxurious, high rolling lifestyle wines have remained consistent. This is a rich, boozy, and opulent pinot gris, clocking in at a flushing 14.5 degrees. This Okanagan Falls gris was whole cluster pressed and then fermented in neutral French barrels, stainless, and concrete eggs. It was aged 6 months with weekly bâtonnage before bottling. Baked green apple, pear, pineapple, is seasoned with vanilla, toast, and spice. The palate is expansive and lush, finishing with a warming flush. If you like Cali chard but want to drink local gris, look here, especially with richer halibut or sablefish.Tasted: 23 July 2020Tasted by: Prices:
