French Door Sauvignon Blanc 2019
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe fruit is handpicked on two separate dates from the estate vineyard at the northern end of Black Sage Road. The initial harvest went through a one-week carbonic fermentation; the second pick was then combined with the first lot and pressed together. It was cold settled overnight and racked and fermented in French oak, including a full malolactic fermentation. The barrels were stirred weekly during fermentation and then left on lees until it was bottled. There is a hint of gold in the colour. On the nose, you can detect rich and creamy tropical fruit that spill across the palate with honey, lemongrass, minerals, and green melon. It is a big mouthful poised to be on the dinner table. I think roasted chicken would be an excellent match, or a buttery halibut dish. There is no rush to drink this.Tasted: 18 July 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $30.00 | 750ml | winery online/direct |
