Locatelli Caffi Valcalepio I Pilendri Rosso 2015
Lombardy, ItalyFrom Lombardy's DOC Valcalepio, this blend of equal parts merlot and cabernet sauvignon came from hillsides east of Bergamo. The name Pilendri’ is an ancient expression to indicate a particular soil characterized by steep and elevated faces. The blend was aged one year in oak, followed by one year in bottle prior to release. Worn leather supports wild strawberries, red currant, fragrant raspberries along a medium bodied palate to a shorter finish. Tannins are savoury edged and fine, and acidity is impressively lofted.
