Lenswood, Adelaide Hills, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide, South Australia, AustraliaWinemaker Turon White is one of the leaders of New Wave Adelaide Hills, and wines like this, just a couple vintages into his own label, show why. The Limited Range is a bottling of one stand-out parcel within a block, and only one barrel of each variety is made each year. Darker shaded and fruited, with black raspberry, fleshy cherry, threaded with subtle smoke, sarsaparilla, dried roses, and savoury thorns. This came from a single clone of pinot noir, was 50% whole bunch, and native fermented. It spent 10 months in French oak. Tannins are slight and sticky, though acidity is modestly well matched to see this to a spiced fruitcake finish.
