Mission Hill Terroir Collection Pinot Noir Simes Vineyard 2018

East Kelowna Slopes, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOne of the coolest Septembers on record slowed down the sugar accumulation, allowing the fruit to fully develop phenolically before a November 8 harvest of uniformly ripened fruit with mouthwatering freshness and acidity. The nose is full on intense with smoke, cedar, and forest floor elements followed by full flavoured dark berries and dusted in a savoury spice. Classic New World pinot noir. The grapes were only 15 days on skins, and 25 percent of the crop went into the fermentation in whole bunch clusters before ageing ten months in 100% French oak. The attack is somewhat reductive with earthy, herbal, forest floor. The cooler green style is vintage related, but the silky textures suggest this wine will be one to watch in subsequent years. Best now decanted for 45 minutes; serve with richer menu items like salmon in soy sauce, or duck confit.Tasted: 09 April 2020Tasted by: Prices:
