Mayhem Merlot Cabernet Franc 2018
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIn 2018, the blend was 84/16 merlot/cabernet franc. The fruit is sourced from Osoyoos' Anarchist Mountain vineyard, and a plot in Naramata. Each goes through a partial native ferment separately in stainless before moving to new and old French oak and an 11 months rest prior to the final blend. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered. It is an attractive blend, with the herbal franc wrapping around the plummy merlot, blending peppery spice, wild dark plum and ripe cherry, scented with anise, and hugged by plump, lightly sticky tannins.
