La Jota Vineyard lies on a volcanic plateau, looking east over Napa Valley. 2016 is a Carpenter favourite that he ranks similar in quality to 2012 and 2013, and I agree. The wine is mountain hefty on the palate but with style. The attack is rich and stuffed with pure blackberry, black cherry, and a firm underside that supports its long, savoury Sonoma finish.
