K - Little Vintners My Red 2017
Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOne of my favourite BC red wine blends is one with a high proportion of merlot mixed with 10-20 percent cabernet franc, exactly what you get in the K-Little Vintners Red, aged two years in second and third-year French oak. The label is an ode to the family name behind Bottega Wine Studio. Kristine Little is the winemaker’s wife, said to be honest, transparent, and easy going. The wine is just that. I love the aromatic nose, with savoury, floral, spicy notes that spill across the palate with black currants and pepper leaving a soft, easy-drinking red. It's youthful, and there is a slight tug of tannin, but this wine is a winner in the glass and will only improve in the bottle moving forward.
