Château Dereszla Tokaji Hárslevelű Dry 2018
HungaryWine geeks know Hárslevelű as one of the supporting grape varieties in Tokaji Aszu sweet wines. But here is a dry, single varietal bottling to get nerdy. It shows green apple, oyster shell, and lees in a style that is somewhat reminiscent of Chablis but with a broader texture. In this case, there's also a slight effervescence that isn't fully integrated into the palate, accentuating the pithy, bitter finish. It's a fun discovery at a fair price and should appeal to fans of non-aromatic white wines from the Old World.Tasted: 24 May 2020Tasted by: Geoffrey Moss MWPrices:BC | $16.49 | 750ml | select private wine shops |
