Yalumba Eden Valley Roussanne 2017

Eden Valley, South Australia, AustraliaRoussanne hails from the northern Rhone but was planted in the late 2000s by Yalumba, and is now part o the Eden Valley range. It’s native fermented in used oak barrels, and aged on yeast, a method that allows it to be a true expression of its terroir. It is exotic, but it is not as aromatic as its cousin viognier. The nose is a mélange of wildflowers, tea, and lavender honey. The palate is lighter and brighter than you might expect, but still with that round slippery texture, highlighted with fleshy fruit. It is a terrific food wine and can play to a wide range of foods, including roasted cauliflower, vegetable soups, roast pork, and mushroom risotto.Tasted: 01 April 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
