Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTantalus has a long history of sparkling wine that dates back to the days of the property founders, the Duliks. Pioneers are good, but I'll take winemaker David Patterson's bubble any day, especially his deft handling of this stylish Blanc de Blancs. The chardonnay begins its journey in French oak puncheons for six months before moving to its final resting place in bottle for 22 months of extended lees contact. Crunchy lemons, fresh pear, and a whack of salty, stony minerality envelopes your palate from front to back, giving the wine its elegance and understated power. Drink or hold for the next decade, the choice is yours. Serious stuff at a fabulous price.Tasted: 27 April 2020Tasted by: Prices: BC 27.83 winery online, select private retailers

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTight lemon, green apple, seashell rings through this blanc de blancs, one of BC's leading serious sparklers. There's a gentle pad of lemony lees reflecting this estate chardonnay's fermentation and 6 months in French barriques and puncheons before 22 months on lees. A lovely stony spice mingling with subtle toasted hazelnuts linger on the finish. This was dosed with 8g/l from their 2017 Chardonnay.Tasted: 24 April 2020Tasted by: Prices: BC 27.83 winery online, select private retailers
