Lightning Rock Canyonview Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018
Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaCanyonview is one of three pinot noir vineyards Lightning Rock owns / stewards in Summerland. The attack is firm and dry with bitter cherry on entry and a youthful tightness that runs through a spicy finish. It is fermented in three separate tanks boasting fluctuating percentages of whole cluster grape bunches before being pressed off into neutral oak of varying sizes. The vineyard was planted in 2003 on two terraces overlooking Trout Creek, and on a mix of south-facing sandy soil that is speckled with large granite stones. The alcohol is a super moderate 12.5 percent, leaving the fruit centre stage. If there's one quibble, there is a bit of reduction, but it does blow off in the glass.Tasted: 12 May 2020Tasted by: Prices:
Lightning Rock Canyonview Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018
Summerland Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is one of three pinot noirs Summerland's Lightning Rock Winery released in 2018. This is from Canyonview Vineyard's sandy and granite studded soils, planted in 2003. Partial whole cluster, this was native fermented in tank before being pressed to neutral oak of varying sizes for aging. A deeper cherry hue, this is flush with raspberry, sour cherry, subtle red florals, baked rhubarb, light earth on a softer palate, albeit one spiked with a salty bite and lipstick kiss on the finish. A youthful project, and one to keep a close eye on.Tasted: 08 April 2020Tasted by: Prices:
