Elegance Rosé by Ingo Grady 2019

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMourvèdre grapes make up a minute amount of fruit grown in the Okanagan each year, so Hemit owner Ingo Grady says he jumped at the chance when offered a small batch of the southern Rhone red grape responsible for some of the best, dry rosés made in France. To mitigate the power mourvèdre can bring to any wine, it was picked early at 21° Brix, to retain freshness and to work with an alcohol by volume around 12 percent. It was chilled overnight and then destemmed, crushed, and pressed directly, tallying less than four hours of skin contact. The dark pink, free-run juice is fermented to dryness with only 1.5 grams per litre of residual sugar. It remains a more lavish look at the category, and in my view, a little more Tavel than Provence, but reliable none the less, and ready to accompany richer bites throughout and beyond summer.Tasted: 03 April 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
