Quails' Gate Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIt’s hard to imagine cabernet sauvignon finding a permanent home in British Columbia, but it now seems global warming is making anything possible. Fragrance in a cabernet is an enduring quality, and this wine is full of cedar, tobacco and cassis, flecked with liquorice and bright acidity. Aged 20 months in 40 percent new French oak, this is as good as it gets for a cabernet sauvignon given 66 percent of the fruit is located on Mount Boucherie in West Kelowna. No doubt, the one-third of fruit from the south Okanagan serves to bolster the structure with a bit of flesh and weight as well as valley-wide low yields. Well done.Tasted: 31 October 2019Tasted by: Prices:
