Play Starring Saignée 2019
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe saignée or bleeding method is employed here, where a portion of red juice, after it’s been in contact with the skins and seeds, is bled off the tank. This is primarily to increase the concentration of the rest of the juice in the tank, in this case, the Play Bordeaux blend. The colour, as you will note, is on the darker side of the modern rosé look. It is also richer and smoother in texture, and it works better with medium or heavier menu items. It is a different style that appeals to those who are NOT fans of the, skinny, citrus-like rosés. It is virtually dry, but the ripe fruit gives it an underlying notion of sweetness, adding to its appeal.Tasted: 29 March 2020Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $26.00 | 750ml | winery direct, private wine shops |
