Mendoza, ArgentinaIt's not everyday you stumble upon a 7-year old malbec, especially at this price. It's certainly beginning to reflect its age, with an evolving nose that shows soft black fruits, cinnamon, soy sauce, and cedar. Medium-full bodied, this is quite extracted with surprisingly firm, chunky tannins, which seem out of character for malbec. It doesn't have the fruit to give those tannins more time to resolve but there's really no need.
