BK Wines Springs Hill Series Red Blend 2015
McLaren Vale, South Australia, AustraliaThis brooding beaut is a blend of mourvèdre, grenache, and syrah, from McLaren Vale's Blewitt Springs. Fully whole bunch, it was native fermented on skins over one month, and then into French puncheons (10% new). It's showing its age some now through a slightly browning tint, and the muddying of the palate, a pool of dusky dark plum, rhubarb, wild blackberry, medicinal cherry, and flocked violets. Tannins are soft and furry, drawing this to a flushing finish.
