Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMeyer Family Vineyards is home to McLean Creek Vineyard in Okanagan Falls, a steep sloping gravelled and sandy loam site that yields excellent chardonnay fruit. The winemaking methods are Burgundian; that is to say, spare with minimal intervention. The ferment is a mix of native and cultured yeasts that wraps up in 22% new French oak. After 11 months on lees without bâtonnage (stirring), it is bottled unfined and unfiltered, having gone through a full malolactic fermentation. Fresh, creamy, leesy, citrus with a nutty underside and a long, piercing, mineral, salty finish, this is crazy good for the price. Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom their Okanagan Falls home estate vineyard and its steep sloping gravelled sandy loams, this chardy was partial native fermented in stainless, before completing fermentation in French oak (22% new), where it remained for 11 months on lees, without battonage, and with full MLF. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Creamy with lees, and bright with acidity, this streams green apple, Meyer lemon, stony salts alongside gentle, alluring licks of reduction and the wood as mentioned earlier. It is chiselled with lemon pith, hollowing out the sides, and streamlining this medium-bodied white to a lingering finish — such a lovely, controlled hand to this wine, ready for drinking now in youth, but certainly with years ahead.Tasted: 14 February 2020Tasted by: Prices:
